Why i am proud of my gay kid

When a child is coming out as LGBTQ+, the most important thing for them to know is that their family supports and loves them. As a parent, you might worry about whether they will be accepted. But it’s important to stay positive around your child and make sure they know they can count on you. If your son just came out as gay, your response can profoundly impact your relationship.

Start with love and gratitude for their honesty, process your emotions, and seek resources to better understand and support them. I am a proud supportive parent of a child who is a part of the LGBTQIA+ community God loves me and gives me the heart to be open and to learn from my child, while helping her be secure in who she is and what she has to offer this world. Some kids and teens are lucky — like my son.

They know that their parents and community will support them no matter what. Others aren’t as fortunate. My hope is that whatever your situation, you’ll find helpful advice and some words of encouragement in this guide.
